|
| 1. Remove the shift
knob by unscrewing it counter-clockwise. |
 |
| 2. Remove the four screws or bolts that
are holding down the shift plate. |
 |
| 3. Insert four of the
included plastic plugs into the top of the shift gate (the other four plugs
are extras). |
 |
| 4. Push the plugs through
the holes in the left and right side of the base of the new shift boot.
This will hold the boot and plugs in place for now. When you're done, you
should be looking at the bottom of the shift gate, and the boot should be
fit over the shift gate as shown in the picture. |
 |
| 5. Remove the protective
film from one of the pieces of double stick tape, and stick the boot down
to the bottom of the shift gate. You don't want to pull too tightly. After
you get one side down and are happy with the placement, move to the next
side. Work your way around. When finished, it should look like the picture
to the far right. |
 |
 |
| 6. Now push the plastic plugs, shift gate
and boot onto the mounting plate. |
 |
| 7. Pull the rubber shift
boot off of the shift lever. |
 |
| 8. Push the rubber shift boot onto the plugs. You
should now have the shift gate, shift boot, metal base and rubber boot assembled
together with the plugs. Remember which way the shift gate is pointing! |
 |
 |
| 9. Slide the rubber boot over
the shift lever and fit the boot assembly into place. |
 |
| 10. The plastic plugs fit into the old bolt holes nice and
tight. You'll need to tap them into place with a rubber mallet, or hammer
and piece of wood. Just tap on each corner until the metal base fits tight
to the console. |
 |
 |
11. Screw the shift knob back
on and your finished!
Note: You can also reuse the existing bolts for your shift pattern plate instead of using the plastic plugs. To do so, assembly everything as described above replacing the plastic plugs with the bolts. To fasten, you'll have to thread a screwdriver or allen wrench through the top opening of the shift boot and move the shifter over each of the 4 corners to allow access to the bolts. Be VERY careful not to let the boot pinch under the top of the bolts because this can cut the stitching. |
 |
| 12. If you ever need to remove the shift boot
again, gently work a screwdriver under the base of the metal plate and pry
it up. The plugs will still be in good shape, and can be used many times.
Also, we have included an extra plug, just in case any do get lost or damaged. |
